As 2015 is drawing to a close and we begin to think about 2016, I have updated my Year Planner Spreadsheet and made it available on my Resource Website.  You can get a copy by going to

Due to the positive feedback I received about it last year I have also added a suggested agenda to make your Monthly or Quarterly Planning meetings extra focused and productive, as well as the Ten Key Questions to ask every 90 days that will really help you to stay on track.  See the first and second worksheet tabs in the 2016 Planning Spreadsheet for details.

For some of you who may not be familiar with the format The Planner is made up of a number of Year-views at different levels of detail.

  • The Business Year view by the Quarter - the big picture, for 2-year strategic planning
  • The Monthly Detail view - with dates for the commencement of each week
  • The Daily Detail - which can be used as a Gantt Chart for detailed Project Planning
  • The Year Planner - which is the classic wall planner in digital format for easy tailoring to your own needs (this is my personal favourite because it lets me see the year at a glance as well as some daily detail).
  • The Holiday Calculator - which gives you a convenient way to track holidays and avoid clashes or too many people off at once.  Many clients also use a version of the Year Planner to track Holidays to ensure that peak periods are covered.

It would be great to hear your thoughts on it and if you have any recommendations for improvements.

Feel free to share it far and wide!

So as you begin thinking about 2016 . . . remember . . . to stay curious!

With best regards
David Klaasen
