Intelligent leaders have confronted and analysed their fears and concerns. They no longer let such things unconsciously trigger emotional and reactionary decision-making behaviours from within them. They use mindfulness to be aware of every moment and every minute decision that flows from being alert to capture every thought they have and then constructively craft every comment and action they take.
Intelligent leaders support and inspire their teams as a collective and as individuals, to perform at their best. They use a blend of transactional and transformational communication. They demonstrate courage by stepping up and speaking out. They consistently display the same core character ethic through their actions, words and decisions. They promote what they permit and they permit only what is best for the organisation, the team and the individual staff member. Intelligent leaders are not confronted by the creativity and innovation their staff bring forward. Rather, they encourage and embrace it. They take their own professional and personal development seriously just as they do for their staff. They work with all stakeholders through a lens of positive regard.
Intelligent leaders make time to give due attention to each stakeholder because they truly believe in the benefits of the 80 – 20 rule. They know how to proportion their time effectively and use each portion efficiently thus creating the appearance of having more time than others. They do this while remaining calm and unhurried yet they attend to every task and accomplish every goal.
Intelligent leaders don’t say they are busy.
