First couple of days on a new job in HR

When beginning in a new organisation in a HR role that reports to the head of HR ( who I like to call the CPP (Chief People Person) this is what you should expect to be told and asked by the CPP in the first two days:

First day:
. This is what it is really like to work here..............
. These folk are the movers and shakers in this organisation...................
. This is my take on our CEO...............
. To be successful in HR here you need to ...........
. This is me, this how I operate, these are my strengths ...............and these are my weaknesses ............
. You won this job because..................
. This was some of what your referees told me............
. These are some don’t dos ...............
. The challenges in your job are.......................
. The best thing I ever read about HR or people management is this. Take it away and have a read; we’ll talk about it next week
. This is what’s happening around here this week ........ and these impact you ............
. Let me say a few things about your staff who you now inherit.............
. These are some of my ideas for inducting you over the next month or two.............
. How do you really feel about this, your first day?
. Talk to me, tell me what you worry about re this job you have come to and what is your number
1 concern?
. What do you think about all of what I've just told you?
. Let's go meet some people

Second day:
. How was it?

On day 3 ask this: Did the CPP deliver on the above? You will now be the wiser!
